Penis Week-- Man Dangles

Your Penis and You

PENIS!

A funny name for a funny appendage stuck in between men’s legs. It’s usually a word that is met with lots of giggling no matter if you are 10 or 100 it seems to get a laugh.

Ah, the Penis. Man's best friend! We're pretty sure that you know your little man pretty well. But here are some things you might not know.

Exercise your dick!

One thing that many guys do not do that they should be doing every day is kegels. Just like women, men should strengthen those muscles. It can help you keep an erection longer and can improve the girth and size of your penis.

Regular erections are important to maintain your lovely vascular member. People who are unable to have an erection can experience a shortening of the penis (1-2 inches) because of the lack of blood flow to that area.

But, there's nothing to worry about since the brain has an automatic maintenance system in place-- which forces you to have an erection while your sleeping (it doesn't matter if your getting down and dirty with Wonder Woman or running from through a Zombie Apocalypse).

Hello, Morning Wood!

For whatever reason people seem to feel uncomfortable about that area of a man’s body. Guys might proudly boost to a girl in a bar that they are well hung but that’s as far as the discussion usually goes. In fact most couples avoid the subject to afraid of knowing the others opinion of their bits. I personally think that this is silly. No matter the size or the shape it should be embraced and loved …literally.

Guys are self-conscious about it women don’t quite know what to do with it and it doesn't help that no 2 penises look the same. I suppose that is also true for vaginas but since the penis is protruding from the body it seems to get scrutinized more.

Are you a Show-er or a Grower?

There's no relationship between the size of a flaccid penis and its full erect length.

You can't assume that a dude with a big, limp penis gets much bigger with an erection. And the guy whose penis looks tiny might get a surprisingly big erection.

An analysis of more than a thousand measurements taken by sex researcher Alfred Kinsey shows that shorter flaccid penises tend to gain about twice as much length as longer flaccid penises.
Kinsey's data suggest that most penises aren't extreme show-ers or growers. About 12% of penises gained one-third or less of their total length with an erection, and about 7% doubled in length when erect.

Looking through history penises have always been a symbol of prosperity. In roman times large penises were considered vulgar and a small penis was considered dignified which is why when you see naked statues from that time period they tend to be on the small side. Roman’s were a bit penis-centric wearing penis necklaces and carving them on stones. They were everywhere.

Ancient Egyptians made enormous stone stylized phalluses called obelisks to show off the virility of the ruling pharaoh. Unlike today where the penis is something rarely seen in any art although the phallic symbolism is everywhere if you know where to look.

You'll be happy to learn that your penis is longer than you think it is. That's because half the length of the penis is inside your body. The root of your penis is tucked up inside your pelvis and attached to your pubic bone.

Let’s talk about the basic parts of a penis. There is the shaft that makes up most of the external length of the penis made up of muscles and blood vesicles. The shaft becomes erect when it is engorged with blood usually due to external stimulation. The glans is the is the head of the penis in it’s natural state this is covered but the frenum or foreskin of the penis. There is also the meatus which just means opening and that is at the tip of the penis. So there are your basic external bits for you.

Many men consider the underside of the glans (head) of the penis and the underside of the shaft to be most sensitive to sexual pleasure.
The underside of the glans and underside of the shaft had the highest sensitivity rating for a significant majority of men, followed by the upper side of the glans, left and right sides of the glans, sides of the penis, upper side of the shaft, and foreskin (for the men who were uncircumcised).

With or without this little piece of skin the penis is fun to play with and brings pleasure to both sexual partners so don’t be self-conscious about it either way.

Worldwide, approximately 30% of males aged 15 and older are circumcised. Those rates vary greatly depending upon religion and nationality, the report states.

Some research shows that there may be health benefits from circumcision. For instance, circumcised men may be less likely to pass sexually transmitted diseases to their female partners or to develop penile cancer

In recent years, several studies have shown that circumcised men are less likely to be infected with HIV. The WHO and UNAIDS now recommend male circumcision as an HIV prevention measure. "There is compelling evidence that male circumcision reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%," the WHO states.

There are many variations for a penis that are perfectly normal. Of course if anything concerns you consult your doctor. better to be safe than sorry. Here are a few things that you shouldn’t worry about. Most cocks are curved to the right, left, up, down or a combination of directions. This is perfectly normal and should not distress. In fact, in certain position a curved penis can be better at reach those special spots inside your partner to make their toes curl.

Another thing that can occur is that instead of a smooth shaft there might be small raised bumps that might even be lighter in color than the surrounding skin. Of course if this is something that has suddenly started appearing you should make sure to get checked for genital warts just in case. However, more than likely they are just a part of your penis and many men have that nothing to be concerned with.

No matter what it looks like, learn to love your penis or your partner’s it’s the only equipment you’ve got to work with so make it work. Have fun with it. You should never be afraid to show it off. Although make sure that surrounding people want to see it so you don’t get arrest for indecent exposure.
